Heading south for the weekend and need some info
Hey guys and gals, I am heading out from Denver in the middle of September to to visit NM. I am looking for some suggested routes and or highways that are a MUST ride. One thing I really want to do is go thru Questa ( I have some family there) Additionally, can you give me a heads up on the pinon nut season time frame and where are some good places to pick at [thumbsup]
Are there any areas that may have more than there fair share of olice: that I should be aware of >
Any suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Duke

Re: Heading south for the weekend and need some info
howdy dude,
well if u wanted to start from questa and make ur way down u can take 522(i believe) to taos and then 68 to Espanola. from there u can either go to Santa Fe and hit south 14 and go up the crest and then come into town or u can go from espanola throught Los Alamos, jemez, and then to Bernalillo. i would post up a map but for some reason i can't get that exact area : computers and i don't work well together [laugh]
as for the pinon season, i believe it really doesn't get started til oct. or later! know its chile season!
if i remember correctly the best was in Espanola [thumbsup] but more than likely there is always people on the side of roads sellin them..
please do let us know when ur in town! i would luv to also join [thumbsup]

But, assuming you are on the Duc, you go gotta hit the Crest road to the top of Sandia. Let me know when you will be in town and we can ride. If you are coming from CO, take 14 south from Santa Fe to ABQ. Pretty good ride....cops, but good.
cheers,
skinner

well i know there is a hotel off jefferson and I25( not sure how expensive) but right there next to u,u got Bostons( great pizza [thumbsup]) and then right on the other side of the street u have a whole roll of resturants(blue corn, rudys, papa duex, etc and a theatre! plus down the street u have a bar ;D
but its all dependin on what side of town u want to stay on! and u don't want to stay anywhere near central :P

Re: Heading south for the weekend and need some info
Hey folks,
I had a friend tell me that the 666 ( I cant believe that they actually called it that) would be a good ride and that a small ghost town called Madrid would be cool- what do you think, and where is Madrid? ???
