Default Planning a ride for the second weekend of June......

Hey... I sent the below out in an email to a few people but wanted to post it here as well....

Hey all...

June 12- 15th. Thursday - Sunday. Ride to Niagara Falls, NY. I know that most of you work Mon- Friday. So maybe we could leave on Thursday after work say 5ish. That way most people would only have to take Friday off. It would of course mean some night riding but we could always just put a few hours in then stop off for the night and head out bright and early. I threw Niagara Falls out because I have never done it and have heard that there is some good riding to be had. Of course if someone else has some insight or suggestions I would love to hear them.

Mapquest does not let you avoid highways on trips over 250 miles. So just eyeballing it... looks like if we took all non highways we would cross sort of straight through NH, VT and NY. Let me know what you all think! Also going to post this on the DML but feel free to forward to whomever.

Hope your all doing well! Ride Safely! :

Cheers, Amelie

Hi Guys,

Keep in mind that this is also the weekend of the Loudon Classic. Though it isn't what it used to be, the races are still fun, and Ducati usually sets up a good sized "Ducati" area with venders etc. The Duc Truck is also typically there with a demo fleet. Just FYI,,,

Thanks

Thanks! I realized that after the fact. I think that I am going to stick with the date though. And hope for the best turn out possible! Could always loop back through that way also as an option to keep all happy!

I'll pencil this one in as well as long as the weather forecast is good. I've never been to Niagra. I would suggest Friday-Sunday tho. Excluding the falls I don't think there is much to do there. How long can you really look at the water?

I would rather spend time riding around the lake on a bike anyway.

I live in Central Connecticut. Depending on where everyone else is it would probably be good to meet around Albany NY or Brattleboro VT for me. I'm not against riding on the highway. I would rather get to the destination as quick as possible and then wander around the local roads.

I will try to recruit some of my friends as well.

Well, if you bring your passport you can head over into Canada for a night of debauchery at the casinos and strip clubs.

If you'd prefer to stay domestic, there's always The Anchor Bar, birthplace of the Buffalo Chicken Wing. Or as Buffalonians call them, chicken wings.

The weekend of June 14-15 is the annual Allentown Art Festival.

The Albright-Knox Gallery makes Frommer's list of must-see spots in Buffalo.

Oh, and I seriously recommend seeing the falls from the Canadian side. The US side is home to Dow Chemical and smells like foot.

Obsessed, thanks for pointing out some of the finner things in my neck of the woods. [thumbsup]

"There is nothing to do in Buffalo/Niagara Falls" is a common misconception. The locals know where to have a great time. Chippewa is the local bar/night club street.

My fiance and I would have loved to show you guys around, but we are going to be in your neck of the wood that weekend. :-\

Let me know if you guys want any more specific info on the area.

No Prob, DD. I went to school in Alfred a ways southeast of you. Hit up the 2nd annual Chicken Wing Festival at Dunn Tire Park one year and had a great time.
