Default thinking about hanging it up

Hey guys, I almost bought the farm this afternoon. was going to the bank and this bitch in a suv pulled out in front me. I mean right in front of me. I was doing about 25 had to hit the breaks HARD, ended up doing an endo and high siding. I ate the pavement head first and broke my collar bone, bruised some ribs, my shoulder feels like hell and my knee looks like hamburger. I have no idea what my bike looks like, but I was told it aint good. the cop told my ex that theres going to be an investigation because its my second accident in a week. they want to see if i was drinking or on drugs. i swear this is the most pain i have ever been in. they got me on oxycotton. do you guys think i should hang it up?

Like 'tini says , your choice to continue riding is a personal one.

I think your rough start is due to the earliness in the season. You are a little rusty, the roads are in tough shape, and the cages aren't thinking motorcycles yet......if they ever do.

Heal quickly Ned.

Speedy recovery man!

+1 on what DP wrote about the earliness of the season.

As far as a decision, I'd wait till you're off the oxy and the pain has subsided.

Jebus, mang. You been hanging with Spidey?

+1 on what has been said already.

- Wait until you're off the drugs to make that decision.
- Its a personal choice and we can't really make it for you.
- Most importantly, a speedy recovery.

Personally I hope you don't hang up your spurs as I'm looking forward to buzzing tourists in OOB this summer. Like strafing runs in a P-51. Won't be the same if you're not there to lead us around your stomping grounds.

Sorry to hear about the crash. I had pretty much the same thing happen to me a few years ago.

Right after it happened I went up to the SUV where she was stopped in the middle of the road and was like, what the heel were you thinking? Didn't you see me or even look? And she was like FUCK YOU!!!! I couldn't believe it. she pulled out in front of me without even looking because she was too busy on her cell phone, drinking a coffee (she was pulling out of a Dunkin's) and smoking a cigeratte and she's yeeling at me like it's my fault. ???

I was never so mad. I just walked away and went and picked up my bike and rolled it to the side of the road.

Anyway, I wish you a speedy recovery.

+1 on what everyone else said. Wait a few days and see how you feel then. And don't forget to call a lawyer and sue the shit out of her!!!

I'm sorry to hear you're injured. but you will heal and things will be alright again.

I've had days when I've gone out and minutes into the ride something will happen....car pullout in front of me/me not paying attention etc.... I turn around and park the bike. Like DP said..... it's early and we are all rusty (even after 20 years of riding)

just talked to the responding officer, he said that he knows i wasn't impaired and the lady said that she pulled out in front of me. he said that he doesn't hand out a ticket, he just forwards his report to the state and they and the ins. co. deal with it from there. I am feeling better today though.

sorry to hear that you went down, glad to hear that you are still around to write about it.

as for hanging it up, I dont know you, I dont know how long you have been riding so I have no clue as to your experiance, are you crashing because you are inexperianced or are you crashing because of other reasons. I honestly think that you should not hang it up but dont forget if you have already had an accident this week, two in one week would make anyone feel the way you do not to mention you are severely injured which isnt helping your mentality.

I think you should not even think about it, heal up first then decide.

did the person who cut you off stop or were they oblivious to the incident? I had an issue like that were the person caused me to crash as they cut my exit path off 3 times and then after a very low speed highside they took off and I had witnesses but no one got the plate number of the car, I had about 3k in damage from that little hit. cops came, ambulance, fire trucks, the works.
