Default Paintless Dent Repair in Northern New England??

Hi all,

Late last fall I made the mistake of parking my bike on some firm grass without a large enough flat rock under the kick stand. That night a rogue rain storm came through making the ground just soft enough for the rock to move and for the kick stand to sink all the way into the ground. The bike was covered with a heavy cover, but that didn't stop the tank from getting a small dent from the handlebar (from the weight of the bike pushing them in over the night).

I tried to ignore the dent, but now that I installed clip-ons it sticks out like a sore thumb.

It really is a small dent and there is no visible paint damage. Is there someone in the northern new england area who could pull/push the dent for a reasonable price?

Thanks,

-J

No replies... curious if paintless dent removal exists on bikes or not...

Anyone?

Paintless dent repair is great for thin gauge metals found on todays cars. They vary, but are in the 24-28 gauge range and are relatively flat.

A duc tank is about 16 gauge and is far from flat and therefore much more rigid than todays cars.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but I seriously doubt the results would be acceptable.

This subject comes up time and again. Hell, I brought it up when I dropped my bike ;D

Yet I've never seen anyone report successful results. We all have a body man fix our tanks

It just seems really weird that you cant just take the gas tank cover off, clean the tank out, and do a little gentle hammering on the inside with a rubber mallet...

No success with this? Not even a decent improvement? I really feel like the small ding on my tank does not correlate with the cost of repair and full paint..after all, there is no visible paint damage whatsoever.

Am I completely off base here?
