Default Sebago Lake ride, April 19th (or thereabouts)

Hello, all.

Since warm(ish) weather is upon us, I'd like to get the ball rolling on an organized group ride.

The extended forecast is saying that Saturday, 19 April, is supposed to be a nice day. ASSUMING THIS HAPPENS, I'm proposing a ride from Portland, ME, up around Sebago Lake and back.

Just eyeballing it on a map, it looks like 302 almost to Naples, then 114 down to Gorham and 25 back into Portland will give us a good ride. I am sure there are much more entertaining roads along the way as well, but I'm kinda new to the area.

Mapquest estimates 68 miles and a total ride time of a hair over 2 hours. Mapquest also obeys speed limits. >

I tentatively suggest meeting at 3pm at the Hannaford on Forest Ave.

I AM COMPLETELY NEW TO THIS. Any (constructive) suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

sounds good to me let's do this, I used to live out that way, pretty scenery and a few good places to grab a bite or whatever along the way.. plus we Moto Milano is on the way if anyone needs anything last minute.. will say this though, that's not a ride we're gonna want to make his summer though, to many damned tourists using 302 for a parking lot

Agreed. Another reason to get on it early.

On a side note, part of me wants to do at least a small group ride around Frye's Island with as many LOUD bikes as possible. Is that wrong?

[Thumbsup] on all of these. Do you have dates on Lobsterfest and Clamfest?

I'll have to work the airshow, but if I have the same job as last year, I'll see you all as you roll in the front gate. If I'm not standing there, I'll keep you guys posted on where I am.

Some really nice guy last year brought me a whole pizza on Saturday, when it had been raining all day. I was so happy I almost cried.

Be VERY careful Obsessed...Some of us New englanders live in Mass. but vacation in Maine( my family has been on Frye Island since 1968.) And I would be more than happy to lead a procession around the Island, but the roads are dirt and not very Ducati friendly...washboards is an understatement! Good news is only 1 olice: and he is not always on the island! > Mike

That's exactly the kind of first-hand information we need! Thanks, Mike. Now that I know that the roads are not moto friendly, I'm not sure I want to spend the $24 for the ferry ride over.

Crumar, what do you think the chances of dragging duc996 along are?

oh yeah, I'm a definate in for next sat. anyone else got any ideas for any hooliganistic rides, we need not limit ourselves to just southern maine we can head further up north, possibly a Canada run or even try and get together a bunch of us for a Red Sox game at Fenway and that way we can round up as many NEMHA members as possible. sound like fun?
