I might be convinced to sell my 2001 M900Sie:

http://www.airliners.net/ufview.file...=phpxjQDdE.jpg

I live in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Good:

- 13,xxx miles

- I'm the original owner, and adhered to the break-in process with extreme discipline

- I honestly do baby it. I never wheelie it, I'm always smooth and gentle to the transmission, and I never use more than half-throttle until the engine is properly warmed up

- Never down

- The "ie" indicates fuel-injection

- The "s" model is kind of rare, and adds an aluminum swingarm, carbon fiber side panels, heel guards, and front fender, adjustable suspension, and their highest-performance brakes.

- Exhaust has been cut down and partially cored out for a deeper sound; stock exhaust included

- 14 tooth front sprocket has been installed for smoother, less-jerky starts. Original included

- Carbon clutch cover installed. Original included.

- Tank bag included

- I resisted the urge to do a tail chop. This means you can still add the bolt-on Ducati soft (or hard) panniers if you wish

- Only two issues ever; the clutch slave cylinder went out once and was replaced under warranty, and the fuel line once popped off of the petcock.

The Bad:

- Seat cowl currently resides on a roadside somewhere in southern Michigan

The Ugly:

- I'm after a first-generation Multistrada 1000S with 5-10k miles. They seem to go for $6500-8500. I know I can't ask that for the Monster, but I'd have to get much of the way there for it to be worth considering.

Whiskey... I was just in the market for your bike and purchased one... ended up with a yellow 2001 m900sie with 10k from Chicago. Just put a new chain on and diablo tires... Excellent bike! BTW I live in Milwaukee but I frequent Madison... I was just in town for the crud run... Let me know if you ever make it out this way!

Man, it's really tough to say. 2001 900cc Monsters seem to range from $4500-5500. The fact that it's an "S" makes it a bit more exclusive. As does the color. I scour the web every few months, just out of curiosity, and it seems that for every red 900S, there are about 20 or 30 yellow ones.

I forgot to mention in my last post - my local Ducati mechanic told me I'd be stupid to sell it. In his opinion, the 2000-2002 models are the pick of the litter, because those are the only three years that are modern enough to have fuel injection, yet are not computerized with an ECU and special key. In his opinion, they're the most modern Monsters that still allow you to tune, adjust, and modify the engine to your heart's content without having to purchase expensive factory diagnostic computers and equipment.

I don't know...I struggle with naming an exact price. And it's NOT that I'm motivated to get every last penny from a potential buyer (I promise!)...rather, it's a reflection of my attachment to the machine. I constantly go back and forth about selling it. I mean, I watched the crate arrive at my dealer, and have had it since it was new, so there's certainly a sentimental attachment there. And I'm not convinced I could find another that is A) red, and B) not pimped out with gaudy anodized parts everywhere you look.

I'll see about shooting some more photos for you.

Cool...it was my first time there. I wish I had met up with someone who was familiar with some of those fantastic backroads. I'm still learning the west side.

I noticed that Ducati Milwaukee has a Multistrada 1000S listed...I may have to head over that way...

Yeah those back roads are really fun but you need to know what is coming up ahead because it will surely sneak up on you quick. I'm going to be out there again real soon...

Ducati Milwaukee is a great place to buy a bike. I don't think they would even consider putting a bike on their showroom floor that isn't in great condition...

I agree with you on the 2000-2002 m900s it is the pick of the litter beyond a doubt. For the hassle free electrical system, metal tank, adjustable suspension and aluminum swingarm it is by far my best pick. I picked mine up for $4800 outside of Chicago and it was quite an emotional ordeal for the seller as he really did not want to see me ride away with it.

I will let you next time I'm in Madison!

I'm considering selling my 1999 900 Cromo with less than 4k miles on it. I purchased it from a collector in Cleveland with 2500 miles seven years ago and have only added a bit over a thousand.

I have switched it over to slide carbs and it has stainless exhaust. Fenders are carbon fiber, frame is gold. It's never been dropped. It's in showroom condition.

Message me if you're interested and I'll send pics.

Sounds like a very nice bike - Unfortunately, right now, I'm on hold - just took delivery on a 2012 RI Limited edition. I appreciate your reply
