I need something newer. I hate to do it, but I have to let go of my dream bike. First, a little history. This is a 1970 Bultaco Metralla, one of the few, great road race models made by the Spanish company famous for dirt bikes. Introduced in 67, the bike came in 1st, 2nd and 5th at it's first Isle of Man TT in the production 250 class. It dominated the competition, outrunning all but two of the 500cc bikes and all but 4 of the 750cc bikes. The street version would run 103 mph out of the box, an exceptionally high speed for its day.
Mine is a true cafe racer, not a mint restored bike, not a stock 100 pointer. It has a stock frame and swingarm, a Pursang Mk7 250 engine, used for it's higher flow heads, ported and heavily worked over, a modified seat, lightweight Ceriani alloy fender, larger diameter forks for less front end flex, upgraded rear suspension, stock steering damper, Tommaselli clip-ons, a custom expansion chamber pipe and more. It is a purpose built street legal race bike, it has no battery, no electric starter, no speedo or tach, and none of the other niceties found on modern bikes. It is raw, real, incredibly fun, but you can see why I don't ride it to work every day. It will come with the original engine, which ran fine when it was pulled, in case you want to swap back. I will also include a manual.
I am looking for a Monster but I'll consider other modern Ducs. I'm in the Indianapolis area.
