Default Lee Parks Total Control Riding Clinics

Any of ladies here done one?

My fiance and I are thinking about going to one. I'm not sure what to expect. I have only been riding for a year and am not sure if I have enough seat time to not make an a$$ of myself. Of course he say I'm a natural, but I think he is a bit biased.

We are trying to get some more technical instruction before going to our first track day and Cali. Superbike School in August.

Any suggestions, comments?

Thanks,
L

Is the Calif. Superbike School that you're going to attend the Keith Code school? If you're starting out at the lowest level, I don't think you need to come in knowing much of anything. It's very basic--and I mean that in a good way. They really start off simple. If you can keep a bike upright you can do Code's school and learn tons without feeling overwhelmed.

I've not taken the Lee Parks Clinic, but I bet you'd get a lot out of it. Just call and ask if your experience level is appropriate for their course. I've done that with nearly every new "track experience." Common questions for me are what group should I be in, how much do I need to know about riding in order to achieve the goals of the instruction, etc.

Report back--I'd be interested in hearing about your day. [thumbsup]

Yes, it is the Keith Code school.

Thanks for you input.

There will be post about each of my track day/school experience here throughout the summer.

Just wish I could be riding now. :-\

I took the Superbike School. I was freakin' out, too. [laugh] They take really good care of you though. They nearly hold your hand through all of it. You get assigned an instructor and the ratio of instructor to student is ridiculous: like 1:3. Seriously--just keep the bike upright and do what they tell you to do. It's not a typical track day. You don't go out there to be fast. You go out to learn. In fact, they'll flag you if you start draggin' your knees n stuff when you're supposed to be demonstrating mastery of their prescribed techniques. [cheeky] This cheesed off a few people in my class. I have to say, as skeptical as I was about the whole thing, I took away a ton from his courses and I only went a couple of times. Stay open minded and take your time. That's the key to their instruction. I don't do everything the way that Keith told me to do it, but now I have some new toys in my bag of tricks.

I did the Code class at the Streets of Willow track. It was by far the best track class I have done.

My goal is not to go fast. Anyone can go fast in a straight line. Code works on skills that teach you how to be smooth and correct in corners. With that comes speed.

I did a class at Laguna Seca with another outfit and was not impressed with the level of instruction. Stay way from open track sessions with racer boys if you want to learn skills in a controlled environment with excellent instruction. This is of course, my own opinion. Others may get something out of a track school that emphasises speed.

What track will you be on?

My sweetie is doing the Lee Parks course this coming Saturday here in AZ. He has been riding just under a year, but has 12K+ miles under his belt. I'll ask him to do a write up in here about his experience/impressions with it.

Hi everyone, yes I am taking the Lee Parks course this weekend here in AZ and will be happy to do an objective write up for you. I found one under the Riding Techniques section of the DML: Lee Parks Riding Clinic

I took the Lee Parks class this past November in Arkansas. I can't recommend this class highly enough. It's a perfect mix of classroom and on the bike training. I rode 5 hours there and back and the ride back through the twisties was made so much more fun just by what I had learned in Lee's class. I would take it again in a heartbeat, just to refresh what I learned. He's got an incredible curriculum, not only did it completely change the way I ride, it made me a safer rider.

Hi Des! I haven't had a chance to check out Lee's class but do plan on it. I'm reading his book 'Total Control' right now and if his writing is any indication of what the class will be like then it should be a good one fo sho!! I too took the Keith Code class (in Vegas) .... in fact it was the first time I had ever rode a sportsbike and other than being super slow, I did fine!! I highly reccomend it. It's really bumped my confidence level up.

Where are you located? Be sure and post your review!
