Default Suggest a bike shop

Hello All,

I'm a Canuck living about an hour north of Detroit (directly across from Algonac, MI). Riding season is coming and I'm in desperate need of a new front tire. I'd like to find a bike shop in the US to replace my tire and was wondering if any of the Detroit folks could offer a suggestion. I'm hoping to find a place that isn't too far over the border, and a little North/Northeast of Detroit. Anywhere between the NE side of Detroit and Port Huron, really. I'm hoping to make a day of it in the next few weeks -- get the tire put on in the morning and spend the rest of the day cruising some roads over there. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Try TT motorsports in Mt Clemens. they deal with Ducatis and MV's. But if your just looking for a tire, try the web first. I found a good deal on a rear 2 weeks ago from Dennis Kirk.

As for roads, good luck, I think many of us are looking for good ones too. :-\

Thanks for the reply, Erik. I have looked at TT motorsports before, and may end up going there to get some parts. Because a tire isn't Ducati specific, I had wondered about a place that might offer a better price, or faster service, etc...

I've been shying away from ordering a tire from the 'net because I'm not sure what kind of Customs and shipping charges there will be to get it into Canada.

Are there no good roads in Michigan? I was thinking about going around the thumb and then shooting back on the more straight roads.

As I said, I got my tire off the web and shipped. Took 2 days and no hassles. Here is their shipping details at bottom of page

I would also check for stores in Canada that might save on shipping. At the current US $ to the CAN $ you still might be better off getting it here and shipping.

As for TT, guys are great to work with. Never had an issue with anything from them.

Yes there are some roads around here, not much though. These days though, they look more like the surface of the moon with all the craters and potholes.

Let me know what you decide to do and if you need any other help.

Erik

Driving around the thumb can be fun, nice views, small towns, all very quaint not too many twisties though.

As far as getting the tire goes, I'm sorry, I don't know anything about the shops further to the north east than TT. I'm way over on the west side.

Just an update here... I decided to check out TT Motorsports and buy the tire from them. It was a great experience! Everyone there was friendly and helpful. They were able to fit me in on the day I could come even though they were busy. I didn't get a chance to do much riding yesterday, but someday soon I'll make a trip over there to ride around the thumb. Thanks for the suggestions!

ps...I saved >$100 buying the tire in the States!
