Maintenance
I was curious if anyone would be interested in getting together for a maintenance day once the weather warms up. We could meet up somewhere and those of us who are knowlegable and/or have a lot of experience could help out some of the less experienced guys. I, personally, am the latter, not the former. I have a good mechanical aptitude, but am a little hesitant to dive right into the bike that I love so much. Just thought I would gauge if there was any interest in this.
If anyone is interested, I am enrolled in a Motorcycle Maintenance course through Macomb Community College (my wife works there) for $195. The course starts on 3/3 and runs through 3/24 on Saturdays from 9AM-12PM. It is supposed to cover the basic stuff like engine/fuel systems, wheels/tires and brakes.

Re: Maintenance
That would be cool, I am not very mechanically inclined, but am a quick learner! I'm actually planning on changing my own oil this spring as well! ;D I've done it on my own cars hundreds of times, but for some reason, am a little intimidated when it comes to bikes.

Re: Maintenance
well for what it's worth, I'm a state and ASE certified Auto technician . I no longer work at the dealership since my accident and happen to have approx 60k in Snap On tools at home now. I think I have the tool dept covered, but not the knowledge in Duc valve adjustments . I did buy the books for my 4 valver and maybe attempt those when the time comes. from FHE in doing valve adjustments in cars, you have to have a pretty good inventory in shims to do a job right. not necessarily use a lot of shims, but have to have every size avail. otherwise, you'll have a bike torn apart while you have shims on order. Re: Maintenance
Yeah, the valves seem like they would be a hard topic to tackle, but even if we did some more basic stuff, like chain adjustments, suspension adjustments, changing tires, bleeding the brakes, or even if someone had a small mod that they wanted to do.
I thought that something like this would be fun to do as a group, and maybe get some of us less knowledgable/experienced guys a little more familiar with our bikes.

Re: Maintenance
I've done my valves several times and would be happy to help out. Oil, timing belts, brake and clutch fluid are even easier.
