M750 fork oil

I've just finished replacing the fork seals on my 1999 M750, and now want to replenish the fork oil.
The info I have in the Haynes and Ducati manuals is somewhat confusing as to type and amount of oil to use.
The forks are Showa with 40mm tubes.
Can anybody enlighten me as the amount of oil that these forks take and the correct oil level measurement?
I have at my disposal 7wt fork oil. Will that weight oil work for a 140lb rider?
Thank you

Yes 7w will work, should be about right for your weight. I will assume you emptied the oil out of the cartridges completely. There are some really good videos on YouTube on doing this. Personally I do this a little lazier when 5he forks are dry and empty. I just look up how much is supposed to be in them and put that amount in. People will say that can result in the wrong level, but until they can prove it to me I'll keep doing it like Frank Sinatra.
