2002 620 shifting problems

My monster 620 makes a funny noise and feels weird when I upshift. It is kind of like a grinding feeling/noise. Sometimes it will shift fine and feel really smooth, but more often than not I get that clunky shifting and grinding noise and also allot of false neutrals. I changed the clutch fluid recently and that didn't help (also changed the oil). Any suggestions on what the problem could be? Thanks!
