About 2 minutes after starting my Monster 696, the yellow "check engine" light came on. The oil temp gauge showed only one bar. The dealer told me to not ride until two bars showed. I had ridden about 40 feet when the light came on. Then the engine died -- not sure if was rider error or bike problem -- then I restarted it immediatley. The yellow light went off; I let the engine warm up for about 2 more minutes, then rode home.
It ran normal.
The owner's manual shows a dozen or so potential problems when that light comes on.
I don't know what my next move should be. Certainly, I wil alert the service guys at the dealer................
