Default Removing rear axle on 2002 S4 - HELP!

I am removing the rear axle on my 2002 S4. You can see the diagram of the rear swing arm assembly on page 70 of the parts manual (page 71 of the .pdf) at
http://www.ducati.com/en/bikes/servi...l?family=parts .

I purchased my S4 last fall and this is the first time I've attempted to remove the rear axle. As I turn the rear axle nut (part 1 in the .pdf), the plate (part 17 in the .pdf used to calibrate the chain tension evenly on both sides of the axle) appears to be frozen to the nut and rotates with the nut and starts to bend as it presses against the swing arm. I've tried spraying Liquid Wrench to loosen the two parts (soaking them for two days) but I still have the problem. I've attempted to turn the nut slightly and then tap the plate to make it turn slightly in relation to the nut, it didn't work.

I don't want to turn the axle side for fear it will do the same thing and gouge the bottom of the swing arm like I did on the nut side.

What am I doing wrong???? The front wheel came off very easily. I know there has to be an easy answer. Please help me out.

I ended up having to bend the plate so it would rotate when I rotated the nut. There was no reason the rear axle nut should have been "frozen" to the plate. There was still a layer of oil between the pieces. My only guess is that someone over tightened the nut. Does anyone know how tight the nut is supposed to be tightened?

On the other hand, perhaps the nut is designed to be popped off with an impact wrench. Would an impact wrench pop the nut off before the plate rotates and f___s up my rear swing arm, or would the impact wrench just destroy everything? Any ideas????
