Things to do in MN- Making a list

Alright, so I lived in Texas for 4 years and didnt do half the things I wanted to. THe wife and I are making a list of things that we want to do this year. We have a 2 year old, so skydiing isnt an option. Here are some thoughts so far:
1. Gooseberry Falls
2. Alpine slide at Wild Mountain
3. Brainerd- camping, races, go karts
4. Black Hills (I know its not MN, but I've ever been there)

What are your favorite places to visit?

Itaska State park and the head waters of the Mississippi. A very senic drive. [thumbsup]

Boating on Lake Pepin. Or Boating in general. Lake Minnetonka, White bear Lake, etc.
Cross Country Skiing anywhere. Yes they rent skis for kids.

Go fishing, so many lakes, rivers, etc. Or a local dog park for a walk once it warms up. I see alot of people walking around with kids at the on by the river by the falls. Kids love dogs and it tuckers them out. [thumbsup]

Children's Museum, Science Museum (rebuilt since you were gone), Minnesota Zoo, and in the winter there's a great indoor park. It costs a few bucks but kids love it. It's Edinborough in Edina.

Ride to Duluth and Ely. And, try going south on old 35 in Wisconsin, there's tons of little bed and breakfast places in funny little river dam towns...

Yeah, with a 2-year old you'll get to know Edinborough and you'll have fun picking up your next cold at the Children's Museum. There is a section at the CM with water and ping pong balls that will amuse a young kid for hours - bring a book. Then when your head starts to explode with boredom from kids parks, try the Walker Art Center sculpture garden instead - they'll be having the art mini golf again this summer.

The Walker Art Center is great and has free Thursdays (sort of a singles scene) and free first Saturdays (more of a family scene). The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has family events each weekend (saturday I think) and it's always free except for special exhibits.

The dog parks are great, as GME mentioned, but you have to be careful with a 2-yr old because the dogs can get rambunctious.

Bicycling along the midtown greenway and city lakes is pure joy. There are wild blackberries that grow along it between the Midtown Market and Minnehaha.

I guess there are things to do out in the suburbs, so I've heard... [cheeky]

Get the kid some hockey skates. You'll NEVER run out of places to go and things to do!
