Default refinishing carbon fiber exaust

my carbon exaust is faded out pretty bad, dont have money to buy new ones, anyone have any luck or any ideas on refinishing them coating them with epoxy or maybe even painting them? my only concern it the heat put off by the pipes i dont want them to start to peel right away.

When you rebuild them, you will need to relpace the packing inside (repack). Uif the cans are properly packed you should not have any problems with the heat (they should stay cooler).

i wasnt really planning on rebuilding them, i dont think that i need to they still sound fine i guess i dont really know for sure though. i was thinking that i was just going to tape off the stainless parts, scuff and refinish the carbon.

I have not worked with CF, but have worked a lot with fiberglass. My understanding is that it's similar.

I would go to the Bay Area Riders Forum, BARF... There is a guy on there who gives classes on making parts out of CF. I'm sure that finding him and questioning him would yield results.
Otherwise, google will turn up tons of stuff. There's a lot of DIY CF info out there.

good luck

Most of the time it is the heat (and sun) that kills that carbon. I am afraid if you do not repack them you Will get poor results. The packing goes south and allows the heat to get to the carbon part of the can.
