Monster auction at MRC
While we're all thinking of winter projects, there's a decent 2006 M620 that's up for auction over at MRC Auctions in Cannon Falls:

Looks like the insurance company totaled it out, but it could be a good project bike, racebike, or source for parts.

Re: Monster auction at MRC
I was there yesterday and saw the Monster 620 Dark. It's in very nice shape with Pazzo levers and barend mirrors.
The only visible damage is a missing right passenger peg and some scratches on the right pipe. The wiring harness from the front to the engine is roughly cut and that is the extent of the damage as far as I could see.
Very easy fix for little money.
I am looking for a track bike project and they have some very interesting things that is not on the auction yet (?) 04 Triumph 600, 06 GSX-R 750, 05 GSX-R 600

Re: Monster auction at MRC
Bingo! Trackbike for at least three people that I know looking. If someone picks this up with the plan to convert, I'll help out. Plan on about $3k extra to convert. (that's sourcing mostly used parts and DIY elbow grease otherwise pay someone else and the price goes way up.)
Also, check into the red key availability or at least the key card.

Re: Monster auction at MRC
MRC Auctions (I think they're changing their name to Cranky Ape now : ) has some good stuff that comes up for auction.
This is the second Monster that I've seen go through their auction in the past month or two. The previous bike was an S2R800 that was repossessed in excellent condition with low miles.
I think that in today's economy, there are lots of repo'd bikes, cars, and RVs that are going to be comin' up for sale. >

Re: Monster auction at MRC
seems like the gsxr600 or 750 would be a easier to convert, ride, and better performing track day bike. Easier to find parts for cheeper to maintain. Sorry love the ducatis I'm just budget minded when getting something that has such a high risk of hitting the ground or needing repairs. I'll :-X now

Re: Monster auction at MRC
Yeah except that Corclark wants a bike to race too. In that case the Monster will be cheaper to run. If it's a trackday only bike then hell yeah listen to Geoff and get a gixxer!

Re: Monster auction at MRC
Hey guys, I've been watching something on some other forums about these guys that build trackbikes and sell them. They take crashed bikes, convert them to your specifications and sell them cheap. They test them and have various package levels available. Anyone looking for a trackbike should consider calling them. On two forums, they are getting good reviews.
They have a new website that is not finished but has a phone # http://www.a2zenmotorsports.com/
Here's a thread on the WERA forum that's worth reading. http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php?t=158129

Re: Monster auction at MRC
I saw that a bit ago, but I didn't look at it very much.
that's seeming like it may be a pretty good deal.
