Default New Monster

Realistically when do you think we will start seeing the new 2008 monster at the dealership? I was thinking about buying a new 2007 model year monster this winter but I'm considering waiting for the new one to come out. I just don't want to wait till June or July of 2008. By then half the riding season is already over.

You might want to call Delano and find out when they expect the bikes. The '08 Duc models will probably be arriving in the next month or two. By contrast, I believe that the '08 Harleys are already in the dealership.

I should get out to Delano and follow up on this... >

I guess what I meant was, when do you think that we will see the newly designed monster (the one that is going to be presented at the Milan show next month) in the dealerships?

I work over at Delano. We've got a 2008 Monster 695 in already, but still in the crate. Dark edition.

Then I'm guessing the rumors that there will be a new designed monster for 2008 are either false or they are going to launch it as a 2009 model...

There is nothing concrete yet on the new "model". We all just have to wait another week.

I am hoping for a new SS.

my 2 cents.

Check out the Ducati website. www.ducati.com They have the new monster 696 on it. I'm not sure if I like it yet or not. I'll let you guys know on when they plan to release it. My guess is that it might come out as an early release for 2009. Similar to how they did the hypermoto as a new release for 2008.

I like it except for the high mount, fat and ugly cans.

They're claiming 80hp at 9000rpm. 355 lbs. dry. Definitely a "new" motor. Sounds like fun to me.

I think it looks pretty good, but I wish they would have put fully adjustable suspenders on it. At least they used Showa forks and not the Marsuckis.  You can add a minimum 1,600 bucks to upgrade those bits. If there is a Matris cartridge and Penske/Ohlins applications even available.

I wonder how much capacity that tank has. Those air scoops gotta be eating up some capacity... but it looks like maybe they moved the airbox down so who knows...

I think they said something like a 3.8 gallon tank. I don't mind the look of the tank, I think the scoops could grow on me. I like the interchangeable tank panels though, great tank dent insurance. Not to mention the scoops seem to be strategically placed where the notorious Ducati tank dings happen.

I HATE the subframe though, as well as the exhaust. I don't know if the aluminum sub frame will ever grow on me. I know the exhaust will not. If I were to get one that would be one of the first mods.

The jury is still out on the headlight.

I wish they would have used a trellis rear swing arm like some of the bimota's have. I like the trellis. More trellis frame please.
And yes, that exhaust would have to go.

Frankly, I like my monster better.
And it's much cheaper for me when a new bike comes out that makes me happier to keep my old one.
