Default Triangle Italians - This Saturday, Feb 2nd

Hey guys. I know it is the cold months of the year, but if you want to head out this Saturday morning, we'll be meeting up at Briar Creek from 9:00 AM to 11. I'm hoping it is warm enough to get the bike out.

Triangle Italian Motoring Enthusiasts will be hosting our monthly breakfast meeting on Saturday, February 2nd at the Briar Creek Commons shopping center at the junction of Highway 70/Glenwood Ave and Interstate 540. We'll meet @ 9:00AM. Breakfast and coffee will be available from Camille's Sidewalk Cafe, Caribou Coffee, and Bruegger's Bagels. We will be gathering in the outer parking lot near Chili's so that we can be close to all three locations.

For those that have not been to any of our events, you can see pics here: http://picasaweb.google.com/TriangleItalians

this is an awesome picture of what ducati should've done:

don't get me wrong, i actually do like the 749/999 ... but that the 1098 should've been the natural progression.

also, that blue cobra is hot ... has to be original to get an antiques (1965) tag right?

I agree. When you see those two side-by-side, you really see the lineage. The 999/749 just didn't fit right. I spent a good while talking with those two guys, Raj(left) and Ivan. They are a couple of really nice guys. A friend of Raj's showed up later in a BMW M6. I didn't get a picture of it.

I would assume so. The only one I am pretty sure was a kit was the black one on the other side of the street.

The GT40 and the GT were parked nose to tail for a bit. I wish I had gotten a picture of them together. The current GT is absolutely huge in comparison to the GT40.

yeah, and the current iteration of the GT40 used the same engine as the Ford Lightening pick-em-up truck. doesn't seem quite as cool knowing that.

Great pictures Ken! I was expecting it to be too cold so I didn't try to come this month. :'( Wish I had, looks like a great turn out... of cars. How many bikes made it out?

If it makes you feel any better, the Lightning used the SOHV 2-valve engine while the GT uses the much more powerful DOHC 4-valve unit. Also, I'd think it highly unlikely anyone with an original Cobra would swap a modern FI engine into it (blue Cobra). To my eye the yellow Cobra seems the most likely to be real based on the wheel size (the others look like they have larger, reproduction Halibrands).

Again, great pictures! Hopefully the weather (and family) will allow me to come next month.

An S2R, 996, 748, 1098, and an ST. I believe that is all of them.

Do you know when next months will be? I am thinking of making the trip from Columbia, SC. Just hanging out with those cars is well worth the trip.

Its always the first Saturday of the month and almost always in the Raleigh area. The next one will be on March 1st and the plan is breakfast some where in north Raleigh and then a shop tour and technical session at Apex Vintage in north Raleigh, which is a shop that services Ferrari's, Alfa Romeo's, Fiat's, and BMW's and also preps vintage race cars. The final details have not been laid out yet, but I'll put it up here as soon as they are in stone.
