Default SC/NC

http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/l...t.asp?state=sc

I'm new to the Carolinas but no turn signals required, no noise ,dba limit. No lane splitting though , no helmet law (SC). I'm thinking its more dangerous to the cars for not allowing lane splitting you think? Its ok not to have turn signals , so they can run your arsss over [thumbsup] Don't have to worry about getting pulled over for them loud Arrows >

I know during bike week in north myrtle beach the cops sit on the side of the road with db meters and give out tickets.

It seems like you have to be running open pipes and really making a lot of noise.

I used to think my monster was loud with ferracci pipes on it.. Until I started rebuilding it, and my friend let me borrow his harley with the baffles removed for the winter... I won't even ride the thing because it sounds like pure crap! dB limits seem like more of a law for common taste than public nuisance protection. Besides it's a good state to ride in.
I wish lane splitting was allowed, but what the cops don't see won't hurt them right?

The state may not have db limits, but the city or town is allowed to enact them. That is why the cops are probably able to give out violations in MB.

I just checked out the NC version of the link in the first post and it says you only have to have one mirror and no turn signals in nc.
I went to Barnetts the other week trying to get an inspection and they said it was a new nc law that you must have both mirrors and all turn signals.
Anybody know what the deal is?
I just dont feel like putting that hideous stuff back on..... only to take it right back off.

I think if the vehicle came with it originally then you must have it.

I have been pulled over 3 times on my bike sans mirrors and signals. They try to hassle, but if you know your laws they back off and really don't care about signals/mirrors. They are more concerned with insurance. In SC signals are not required, but make sure you give hand signals when possible. I have talked my way out of tickets 2 outta 3 times. (Game warden, sheriff deputy, and city cop.)

I have my NC inspectors license and the law is screwed up. Its all how you interpret the law. In NC you only need one mirror and turn signals are not required, but it also states that motorcycles should have all OEM equipment. :-\
If you get the right guy to inspect your bike you won't have any problems.
