Hello,

I now own a 900 S i.e. and a motorcycle permit. I'm in the Lake County area. Looking for folks to learn/ride with...

Welcome!

I'm probably the closest to you- I live in Valpo. There are a few others in the laporte and south bend area that I ride with. You are welcome to join us.

In fact we are all planning to meet for dinner at a restaurant in new carlisle, which is a bit east of laporte, this Thursday evening. It might be a far ride for you but you're welcome to join up with us if you would like.

Have you taken the MSF course yet? I took it in crown point a few years ago and it was very helpful.

Bryan

welcome aboard !
I never took the MSF course, but I heard anyways the ABATE of Indiana course was a little better.
Just take it easy on that 900 man, give it the respect it deserves and it'll treat you right. I learned the hard way when you ride a streetbike like a dirtbike and do silly stuff on it.

Have no sense of how to ride a dirtbike so that shouldn't be a problem. I haven't had it past 5000 rpm (which seems like plenty on the street). Trying to do the ABATE walk-on thing so I don't have to spend $300. I would have come out and met you guys had I read this post earlier.

Thanks for the welcome.

Got through the ABATE program. So far as I can tell it would be easy on the monster because except for the 20' by 60' box in which you have to do most of a figure eight. I tried it at home, and I'm going so slow that the engine pulses (more or less at idle) are disturbing my smoothness.

Anybody done the experienced course on their monster?

Got my M endorsement!!

Also now over 2300 miles on my own.

Found Rt.2 and Rt.8 (Different riding both cool experiences).

Put on the stock pipes for a weekend. It almost sounds anemic compared to the aftermarket cans, so I put them back on.

So now it is small touches to make things less goof proof... frame sliders, center stand...

I am having a BALL!
