Weekend Rides
Hi all, new member here. Any of you ride around Lake Monroe area on weekends? Got an
S2R 1000. Usually go out early to avoid Harley logjams. Anyone?

Re: Weekend Rides
I have not been on the board for a long time...just too busy. I noticed your post. I no longer have a Monster but I do ride a red Multistrada 1000. I live in Bloomington and often run down 446 on my way south for the day.

Re: Weekend Rides
446, ahh. Rarely ride that one. Fun curves. Usually take 135 s from Nashville, 58 w to Bedford and sometimes 450 s to Shoals and on to Paoli before return. Also like 45 to the east and 43 to the west of Bloomington. Do you have some favorites further south?

Re: Weekend Rides
I live in Bloomington, but if I street ride it is usually in Kentucky. Much better roads with virtually no traffic compared to places around Monroe Co.

Re: Weekend Rides
Kentucky, hmm. What parts? Do you cross the river at Tell City, sr135 or further east like Louisville? Spent some days in eastern Kentucky few years back on an SV. Quite fun. Guess Kentucky always seemed a bit far for a day trip to me. I am getting tired of the traffic around Monroe area. How long does it take you to get to your riding areas across the river?

Re: Weekend Rides
I have a bunch of friends down there that ride so we meet in Louisville. Sometimes I drive down (2 hours) since the ride down is boring, and borrow a bike from Ed (owner of Commonwealth Ducati). I honestly don't know the roads that we ride, but I remember 42, 355, 421, 127, carolton, Frankfort, umm.... not sure what else, but there are so many roads down there it is unbelievable.
Last weekend we rode about 225 miles or so. I drove down and picked up an 888 to ride [clap]

Right. Found some of them on the map. Think I'll ride down there this weekend. Should be good weather. Cheers!

Re: Weekend Rides
Call me if you come through Louisville...I'm usually ready to go in a few minutes. If you want to go further inland (from the KY border), I've been riding a bunch in central KY and found that many of the roads are just as twisty, but have a few less trees, thus allowing you to see the exit of curves and if you leave the road, less hard stuff to slide into. The further north and closer to the Ohio or Kentucky river you get, the more trees and elevation change. Note: I'm on a 695, so if you are planning on doing Kentucky on yer 999, I probably wouldn't be a great wingman, but if you want to just hit it at a 70-80mph pace, I'm down for that. Steve,
A group of us are going to ride this weekend (starting from Louisville) - either street or dirt, if we ride street do you want me to call you? or do you ride dirt as well?
Anthony
