2008 s4r - hp?
Hey, just got my first ducati, and am thrilled! What a bike... Can't think of any other bike with so many attributes! Question: I was told so many different things about the engines... From the 998, from the 999, 130 hp, 119 hp. So my first question to this group is how many hp the 2008 s4r has? Mine is stock w arrow slip ons. Txs!!! Joseph

130hp! Here's the web page on your bike - you may want to bookmark it - it's hard to find this page through Ducati's web site.

hmmm interesting thread. I'm on the fence about buying an S4RS or a new 1100 evo and the S4RS is advertised as having 130hp, enough to make a difference over the 100hp EVO. If it's closer to 120 than the gap between the bikes closes.

Interesting. It shows the '06 S4R 996cc at 117hp, and the '07 & '08 998cc Testastretta at 130hp. Which country was yours built for?

I am not 100 sure which country, is there a way of spotting / telling from the vin? It is a 998 cc engine, according to the manual. It feels 130 or more hp!

With regards to choosing between the 1100 evo and the s4rs, I would choose the latter anytime. It goes beyond horsepower: the looks of the older monster is more classic in my opinion, and then you need to consider air versus water cooled, which again for me is a no brainer both in terms of looks (the water cooled engine making the bike look like a stripped down race bike) and performance. The s4rs has also a limited edition aura to it... I know this will be controversial hehehe!

Not 100% sure, but when I was doing my research, I found the 2007-08 S4R is 130hp and S4RS is 140hp.
