Default 1100 Evo fuel tank

Can someone advise if the Monster 1100 Evo fuel tank is plastic, steel or aluminum? I have been reading about the class action lawsuit involving plastic tanks; some Monster models were involved. I have a new one on order, which I assume will be a 2012.

Thanks in advance!

It's plastic.

The latest rumor is that the newer generation of Monsters don't have the same type of issues. The tank is hidden away and was designed with some room to move around under the fake skins. Also the black plastic is more resistant to ethanol than the previous paintable versions.

It is plastic. The tank sits under the 3 thin painted covers you see on the bike as the "tank." The battery and airbox are all underneath there but the tank extends from the filler cap back and down under the front of the seat.
