07 S4RS Value
I am in the market for a Monster I found a 2007 White S4RS for sale. I the guy is firm on his price, I just think it is a bit high… I am new to the Ducati world and don’t want to over pay.
I was wondering what you all thought would be fair market value for it.
It has 74XX miles and is in perfect shape. It also has these upgrades, Rizoma handlebars, carbon fiber flyscreen, gel seat, carbon fiber tail cover, fender eliminator, open clutch cover, CRG levers, Rizoma rear sets adjustable pedals and, a full Termignoni exhaust system.
After I see some responses I’ll tell you the price he is asking.
Thanks!

A local ducati shop by me has one with similar upgrades, but 5000, miles for $10k. I've looked around online and have seen prices anywhere from $6500 (I wish I would have known about this one!) to $13k (private seller with a virgin tricolore and only a couple thousand miles).
If I were to average it out, I'd probably say of the 07 S4RSs i've seen that are described as in good condition would probably be listed for $8k-$9k.
Just got to www.allofcraigs.com and search for "ducati S4RS" to get a feel of what people are listing their bikes at. Remember, though, the final price you pay will depend on how well you negotiate.

Having recently picked up an '07 S4R with 300 miles, CF front/rear fenders, tail chop, and a termi slip-on system for $8,200.00 in SoCal... I'd tell you your seller should be in that ballpark.
He's got some nice mods on the bike but as anyone will tell you, you'll get about .50 on the dollar for all that bling. From a seller's perspective it's smarter for him to part out all those mods to recoup as much money as possible. So, if he's unwilling to do that, he should expect to take a big hit on all that stuff.
Also... the bike is due for a major service at 7,500 miles which will cost between $750-$1,000. Make sure you ask about whether the service was already done as that's quite an added cost should you choose to buy the bike and then have to pay for that service out of your pocket.
To Sum Up:
1) Research the KBB/NADA guides for bluebook value of the bike itself.
2) Research the cost of the mods he's got then cut those prices in 1/2 to determine current FMV. You can do this online or by calling Rosenau Powersports in Dearborn or TT Cycle in Clinton Township for pricing.
3) Ask about the 7,500 mile service and factor that into the equation.
4) A "cash in hand" buyer who offers slightly less than asking price is hard to say no to... especially in a down economy.
GL... let us know how it turns out!

And some people want $9000 for a non-S4RS...

I almost bought a 2007 S4RS locally with some upgrades and 2,000 miles for $8,000 cash last week. I didn't jump on it because I want it in red if I should get one. I'm debating about the S4RS or new 1100 Evo. Also that post above is for an S2 completely different bike and the S4 is worth way more money than the S2.
