Yes, you should hear the fuel pump each time, so that's probably your problem. I don't know what relay, etc.; mine's an old carbureted bike. But I know that when I've ridden my friend's 620, or ridden with her, the fuel pump is audible at startup.

You will be able to hear the fuel pump kick on. It has a soft humming sound. Do you know if the tank was ever off at any time? If so, the previous person could have hooked up the fuel pump wrong. How old is the gas in it? The lines could have gummed up as well if it sat for a while. That had happened on my old RD350

The pump is definitely knackered. I opened a new thread under tech with diagnosis and resolution. Both threads now closed.
