Smile Black key, no red key SOLUTION!!!!!!

Bought the 2003 620 Monster second hand from a dealer who glossed over the fact that there was only one (black) key. My fault and when later I read the hand book and looked at the various Ducati forums I realised my mistake.

A call to the main Ducati dealer in Bristol requesting a (red) key or at least another (black) key revealed the awful truth that loosing my only black key would result in a new ECU and various other parts costing between 750 to 1500 UK pounds, but at least I would get a new set of keys including the dreaded (red) key, vital apparently to be able to programme additional (black) keys.

An email and a long conversation with the Ducati factory in Italy resulted in long and apologetic reasons why they couldn't/wouldn't supply a new (red) key even though I could suppy the frame number and the key code information (found inside the service book!)

Many phone calls to lock smiths etc found on the internet gave no joy until I called an outfit call SOS Auto Locks Ltd (Tel. 07599808101) based in Yeovil in Somerset. Bingo! the guy was very helpful, found the correct chipped key blanks (in the UK) and then turned up at my house in a fully equiped van and proceeded to clone 2 perfect additional keys for the bargin sum (in my opinion) of 105 UK pounds.

JOB DONE! Problem over!

Farkin red keys! Did you ask the dealer for some relief since they did not supply the key in the first place? Maybe a no charge oil change or something similar is in order?

that's good news for you but are you sure that in case of big trouble they can reset the bike with your new keys instead of the red one?

I think it only solve half of your issue, if you loose your key you now have an other one but you still don't have the red one.
