Default Monster 696 Short Tail

After much effort, I finally installed the Ducati short tail on my monster, there are several things they do not tell you in the instructions like....This will not fit a U.S. plate... None the less, with a little modification and drilling new holes, we made it work. There is not a U.S. version of this tail chop contrary to what the salesman told my wife. If you have a ban saw, or are really good with a cut off wheel you can make it look decent. I guess from the second picture, the anti photo radar spray really does work....

I just got the kit from DP and there were NO instructions with it. WTF!

Does anyone have a tutorial of the installation?

Thanks.

just fitted my Ducati short tail kit - without any instructions....just a little challenging but end result is pretty sexy!
Where the turn signals went through, the plastic was too thin for the mounting boss so ended up making a pair of plastic washers to get the right grip length. And what were those two right angled brackets for???? I hope it doesn't mean I have to take it all apart again!!

Right angle brackets/ and bolts included in the kit were for the signals. One end of the bracket connects to the signal, the other to the underside where one of the main frame bolts go. That makes the signals more stable. And you don't use the stock bolts.

I ended up going with the after market signals anyway since the stock did not fit with the passenger bars I installed. I also did not drill holes in the license plate frame but used a regular plastic frame to attach the license plate. Pics of my tail chop result in my blog (see signature).

now that makes perfect sense and would have negated the need for the plastic washers....ohhh for Ducati to provide some simple instructions...grrr! Thanks for the info!

Just finished mine. In the process I invented some pretty nifty cuss words trying to attach that frickin' cable release. I didn't drill holes in the bracket either. Instead I just made my top license plate holes oval. Nice Blog BTW.
