Get proficient and run your bike harder. That's what it's made for. You'll love it even more if you do.

I've taken Keith Code's school and used to bomb the Tx Hill Country every weekend on my Aprilia Mille. Nowadays I'm on the Monster and the lack of a fairing for me is not that big a deal unless it's a situation like RottenRandy said... high speed. There's an obvious difference then. But I'm all about the turns and the lack of a full fairing is a non-issue here. I don't really give a poo about hauling ass straight so there again lack of fairing is a non issue. Now if I lived closer to a track and could attain high speeds as part of the course, that's a different story.

Another side benny is lack of fairing is mucho less $ and pita if ya low side or drop.

Huge difference. Both in summer (fairings=hot) and winter (no fairings=cold). And for anything over 70 (or even less if you're going any distance) or in stop n' go, the fairing make a massive difference (good at high speed, bad at low speed--cooked legs/body)

The Duc without a windscreen gets some pretty serious buffeting over 100, even in a full tuck. I can do 130-140 on my r6 and not feel like someone just stomped on my neck for a while.

OTOH, you can get your helmet over the front end of the non-fairinged bike easier than a fairing-ed bike, but that's probably not a concern if you're just doing a Starbucks loop.

yeah, nekkid is cool, but if you're doing 3 or 400 miles a day, the flyscreen makes a HUGE difference.

I have had three fully faired bikes and this Monster is my first naked bike and I am not looking back. Is there a difference, simply put, yes, but typically a fully faired bike will deliver a different performance package than a naked bike, I prefer the naked bike now that I am a bit older and more responsible and have different tastes, I like the Monster because it doesnt egg me on to go faster all the time like my TL1000R did and the R6 was worse. the Monster, I love because I can hang back and do the speed limit (comfortably) or I can wick it up and be a hooligan if I choose. besides I dont need to go faster than 130 and the track I ride on has a short straight which is good for 130 if your on a GSXR1000.

My Supersport is a lot smoother with a lot less wind blast at highway speed than my Monster. I haven't had long enough to know how much hotter it is in the summer, but it is generally a lot less fatiguing to ride above 75 MPH.
