Those would do just fine. They look nice and even comfortable.

Michael - are you planning a trip to Stompersboots anytime soon? the store is in San Fran - i am thinking of getting a pair - not sure if they have a size that fits me though

you don't think these would be too scary would they?

No imminent plans for any trips there. I went once and was sorely tempted by a pair of CHP boots, but then I'd have to get the goofy pants, or figure out how to wear jeans with 'em.

As for the "Diablo" I guess they're just a bit too Klingon for me. The Chippewa Rally Boots are more my style...

Hey Daf -
Remember when I said I wasn't going to boot shop anytime soon? Weeelllll..... My wife wanted to visit a knitting store in the city and I dutifully tagged along. As we were leaving I said, "Honey, how about swinging by a boot store? I could really use your advice." So we go to Stompers, which is smack-dab in the S&M section of SF. Once you get past the dodgy neighborhood, the guys in the shop are real nice and very informative.

I tried on the Chippewa, but the just seemed wrong. Then onto the Engineer boots, which were pretty cool. Then just for grins I said, "Can I try on those big cop boots?" I have always thought these boots were the essence of cool, and once on my feet I knew I had to have them, the cost be hanged. (And they are built and priced like high-end horseback riding boots.) My wife, amazingly, said "they look great and you love them, so what's the question?"

Woo-hoo. Now if it would only stop raining so I can RIDE!

that's great Michael! you'll have to wear them when we do the Monterey county recon ride. did you happen to see the City Rock boots? was wondering if the sole is thin enough on the toes to use the shifter

You're joking, right? The soles on those boots are HUGE! You'd never be able to get under the shifter. Have to put some heel/toe shift on the old Duc to wear those!

Now of course if you're starting an 80's glam/rock hair band, they'd be just the ticket....

well, it's a good thing I didn't go by the pictures on the web - I think there's a distortion factor when it comes to seeing the real thing vs a digital pic of it
