So I found the Joe Rocket 5.0 mesh jacket, and this does not look too bad in black/hi vis yellow. I hate to appear vain, but not sure if I can wear this on a red Duc. If its safety vs. style, you would think that safety should trump, but if that were the case, we'd all be riding around in bright orange and yellow gear, right?

Your opinions are appreciated.

I put his on my backpack when I ride: http://www.dontgethit.com/rebewiqurebu.html

I wear this over my jacket. Doesn't obstruct airflow: http://www.dontgethit.com/rehawbe.html

Helmet halo on my Arai: http://www.reflectivedecals.com/haloebay.htm
Recently, I've also put some fluorescent yellow reflective stickers that can be purchased from REI. Thinking about getting a fluorescent yellow Arai.

Glo gloves over my Helds: http://www.gloglov.com/SportGG.html

I also have a pink Vanson Star jacket that I low sided on back in the Spring, but it's still good.

I tell people I've hit the ground before and don't need any help.

And deer do not care if you are wearing yellow or not.

The cones (photopic) are most sensitive to light wavelength at 555nm. This is roughly the fluorescent yellow/green. In the dark, the rods (scotopic) are sensitive to wavelengths at 507nm. This is roughly the cyan blue. So for the dark, you probably actually want something that's blue if it's not reflective.

Yeah, I tell people it all looks the same out the visor. A friend of mine was a tire engineer for a major tire company. He did some performance testing for with various cars. He said the M version of BMW's Z3 made up for the shitty trailing link suspension they used. I remember saying, the Z3 is ugly. He replied, when you're doing high performance testing, you don't care what the car looks like. You only care about how the car is performing. Going fast is going fast. Similarly on the bike, being safe is being safe. It all looks the same out the visor.

When I started wearing an orange vest I noticed cars stayed several car lengths behind me. At stoplights oncoming traffic were aware of me if I was making a turn. I wouldn't ride without it now. And I felt nerdy at first until I realized how much my safety margin had gone up.

I like the harness from DontGetHit.com (the idea... not the look). I just ordered one. Thanks for the tip.
