I liked the out version better because it is a little more armored and felt better than with my leathers, but alot of people like the in version since it velcros to the inside of the dianese pants and suits. I did not get the air version because they were out of stock in the country for my size (47) at the time and it was going into the cold months so I thought I'd save up for the air's later. They also make a waterproof version of the torque pro but it doesn't have the inner support. See if there is a Dianese factory store near you since they have the best selection. They also give a discount if you've taken an MSF course in the last 3 months.

I'd also recond going to a running store that sells custom orthotic insoles so you can test all of your boots with insoles that fit you specifically. It makes a night and day difference.

Thumbs up on giving new boots a chance. When started riding took few mnths b4 I bought em at all n when would switch between did Standard sneakers or boots i had always weird till I got used to it. Now with full length boots when going short trip to shops n don't bother (not saying that's a good idea) always weird with something new n hard to shift or even rise. Alot more effort till I get used to those shoes/boots I'm doing it with

My latest try was a pair of these from Alpinestar. Yes they were expensive, and they did feel very good and look to offer great protection. However I'm riding with a boot that goes slightly over my ankle now, and these felt like SKI BOOTS in comparison. And yes I did play with the settings/tightness with no change in this feeling.

Scary Moment #1 - First stoplight I came on I started to slide out the rear wheel from using too much pressure on the rear brake from loss of feel due to the "ski boot feel".

Scary Moments #2 - Later in the day I couldn't feel the shifting correctly and actually hit N multiple times from 1... super uncool in hectic midtown traffic.

Best "feel" on my bike ever has come from a pair of sneakers in a parking lot, which I know is super unsafe and not the answer. OK feel right now is from a pair of over the ankle boots I bought from Payless for my MSF earlier this year. Not ideal, but at least offering some protection under my leathers.

I've heard good things from SIDI, but looking for feedback here because I know someone has been in the same situation I'm in right now that found a solution.

Or maybe I am "doing it wrong" with using my feet on the pegs somehow?
Before i got my Alpinestars (S-MX 5, Similar to yours) I was wearing Steal toe combat boots (Danners), still gatta wear the Danners on weekdays when i work. I totally feel you on your "Moments" i had some that were very similar while i was switching/breaking them. I got used to them, but it took a little time. since your Alpinestars are similar to mine, I'd say give them a little more time.
