Question Bag recommendations for 696 wanted!

Hi all!

Any recommendations on easily removed modest size bags for the 696, suitable for bringing lunch & beverages to work, etc.???

Thanks!

I recently checked out a rear bag at my local dealer and like it quite a bit. Its called the Rear bag kit and the model number is 96766709B. It's not real leather but its still sleek and UV resistant. Check it out

Because I am a student, I also carry a backpack and I have the Axio Hybrid Softpack. It's nice and round so it doesnt allow much drag and also is spacious with multiple zippers and a laptop sleeve inside.

Do you have a metal tank? -- Because you could get a magnetic tank bag. They attach easily, and won't scratch your tank, and some offer lots of storage space.

I'd recommend a back pack over a rear bag or tank bag. If you don't need to haul a lot take a look at the Speedo Team Drawstring Bag ($15). That's what I use to haul my swimming gear to the pool with me when I'm riding my 696. The Speedo bag works like a backpack, but does not have a waist strap. I also have a really nice L.L. Bean Turbo Transit Pack ($60) that I use when I go on short 2-3 day trip. The Turbo back pack has a compartment in the bottom for shoes, and lots of other storage areas. The best part is that it has a waist strap to keep the thing from moving around while you are riding.

In case you are not familar with the 696, the tank is fiberglass. Do not use any bag that straps on to the tank. I got one but it started rubbing the tank and caused scratches. I suggest a simple backpack for most your needs. I bought one from NorthFace that works well, but suggest finding one for motorcycles. i am sure people on here will give suggestions as to which one to buy.

Default Saddle Bags

Not a help for those looking for a small bag, but when I bought my 696 last week the dealer said they had just ordered saddle bags that had just been released for the 696.

Default Tank Bag

I bought the DP tank bag £100 put some of the none slip matt underneath to stop scratches.
Road 300 miles yesterday works great easy to lift for refuelling and can be extended to give even more room.
Comes with shoulder straps so can be taken off usd as a back pack.
Map pocket really usefull.

Thumbs up Back Pack

I recently bought the Ogio No Drag Back Pack. I can carry a laptop and some papers, notebooks, etc, or pack some light clothes to change into along with rain gear. but you have to be efficient in your packing! Really don't have any negatives after a month. The No Drag is really no drag. I haven't noticed any wind effect yet. The contour fit is perfect for me. I was riding behind a friend who also has a no drag and the contour fit looks great as well. Having worn backpacks and gone hiking with backpacks forever, one of the best features is the padded backing that hugs your back. Considering how close the fit is, the padding and material makes the No Drag an No Sweat backpack. I haven't been uncomfortably warm or sweaty on longer rides in the heat, and I've worn it over a leather jacket. Can't speak for the other riding backpacks out there, but this one's definitely a keeper.

I've got a Givi T430. Mounts with suction cups, but has a mounting plate with the cups and four quick releases which attach the bag to the plate so it comes off and goes on quickly and cleanly. Has pack straps as well so it can be used as a back pack. Not sure it qualifies as "moderate" sized at 18 liters, but that's a personal call. I use a Ducati pocket bag for most day to day riding, as that holds everything I tend to take with me and also attaches and detaches very quickly.

I have the Bags-Connection Engage Tank Bag on my bike (twistedthrottle.com). It uses the SW-Motech tank ring allowing the bag to clip on and off the tank without the use of straps or magnets. The gas cap ring elevates the tank bag slightly above the tank allowing for minimal contact with the gas tank.
