Default Recommended Gear

All,

I am a new rider. Took the safety class, went out and bought a Monster 620. The purchase included a helmet and a jacket. What is a good direction to head in for pants, boots and gloves? All info or suggestion are helpful.

I just picked up a pair of Alpine Stars S-MX 2 boots and I think they are great. I have a wide foot and they give me just the right amount of room.

I am a new rider too ( 5 months). I took a clue from our instructor and other experienced riders and started out with what most would consider as starter gear. I didnt spend much relativilty speaking- how much is your tissue worth? - Textile jacket with shoulder armor and padding, good for warm and cold weather- removable lining. I paid $175. Sure I could have spent $600 for a similar jacket. I got some textile pants for $135 - also with armor and hip padding. Shoei RF 1000 helmet and over the ankle Dainese boots. Gloves with good protection and for me, good feel since I am not an expert with bike controls...So I spent around $700 and feel pretty well covered. How cool you look and what features you get are based on how much you want to spend.

your level of protection is your choice and the level you feel good with.

they type of gear that is right for you depends mostly on the type or riding you actually intend to do. will you commute primarily in warm dry weather? will you be tearing it up on the weekends? both? do you need gear that will do in the wet? do you plan on going on the track?

leather is most protective garment material. period.

there are specific brands of boots worth your hard earned dollar.

there's no do all set up of gear.
