Default I have a problem wearing gloves...help me

I am kind of ashamed to say I don't wear gloves when I ride. I just don't feel like I have
the right control with the throttle when I wear gloves. But maybe I just haven't tried the
right gloves. Actually, even when I'm riding my bicycle, a road-racer, I can't stand wearing gloves.
I just feel disconnected. Any suggestions? I know it's stupid not to wear gloves, so I need some
suggestions. Thanks.

Try some with Kangaroo leather on the palms. It's tougher, so thinner leather can be used. This may improve your "feel."

+1

I just received my Held Akira gloves. It hard to believe that these kangaroo gloves have a higher abrasion resistance rating than regular cow leather because the palms of these gloves are soft, supple, and thin.

I have a similar issue. I ride better with out gloves but I wear gloves 100% of the time now.

I sacrificed some safety for comfort and control. I went with a middle of the road thinner dainese glove.

Let us know what you find that you like.

Try the ICON Pursuit gloves. I just retired my pair after about 2 years of riding. They worked well in a miror getoff and a extremely severe crash...

Ugh, I am so used to riding with gloves that I hate riding without them. Once you break the $100 mark, you get into the higher end gloves that just fit better, and give you much better feel.

Thanks for the replies. I will try your suggestions. And I know it's not safe at all not to wear gloves. I guess my problem has been not having the right ones. The gloves I've tried have actually made me feel less safe because I haven't felt like I've been "in touch" with the throttle and controls in general. So I will just keep trying gloves until I find a pair that feels good.

Default Cheapos

Has anyone had experience with the cheapies as well as with a good set? I'm riding a pair of padded palm mechanics gloves I got from Lowes and I can barely stand to keep them on for more than an hour. I see all the other guys on rockets shaking out their hands due to the weight on them while I'm shaking out my hands to resettle my gloves. It also seems that they put the seams (zing!) right in the crux of your thumb and index finger (right where the bar rests). Not only are the seams in the wrong place but the "padding" does nothing but create pressure points on the palms of my hands. I've ridden road and mountain bikes for years (the kind you actually have to pedal), but none of these gloves have enough material to get in the way as far as seams or padding. Mine are full grain leather, though thinner than most "higher quality" gloves, but sometimes I don't feel like it's worth the pain to warrant dropping 90 bones on something that I'm going to have to force myself to wear. I know good leather stretches and I know I'm never going to find anything that I dig as much as bare hand riding, but I do agree that it's senseless to ride gloveless. Has anyone run the gambit?
