I tried that same jacket on myself. They call it the "stripes jacket," god knows why... If you're a 54, we probably tried on the exact same one at Ducati Seattle. It is pretty nice!
My thoughts on it, in summary:
-Looks awesome.
-$600 is actually a pretty fair price for a full grain Dainese, since not long ago we were seeing Dainese up to $800.
-New and improved shoulder and elbow armor = Very nice.
-Could actually be used as a casual jacket, which would increase the likelyhood you would wear it more (as opposed to using a lighter jacket for short trips).
-Hard to tell in pics, but the use of suede panels in addition to regular shiny leather is a really nice touch.
-It might be hard to "match" it to the color of your helmet and bike. People say brown and black dont go well together. I'm thinking brown and crazy black/red/flame combo helmet don't go well together either. There's a reason 95% of bike jackets are mostly black...
-I like the feel and fit overall, but Dainese jackets are always a bit too short in the sleeve length for me. This is no exception.
-I like the removable liner, but the level of perforations is not that high. Mostly it relies on the D-stone fabric in the armpits, which doesn't really breath well below 40mph. This jacket would be too hot on sunny summer days, even without the liner.
-I don't like the velcrow on the sleeve. It's annoying, and buttons would be both more durable and better looking.
-I've been hoping for a brown leather jacket to be created for a long time, but this is not the color I had in mind. I would much prefer a dark oiled brown leather jacket. Indiana Jones colored, if that maked any sense.
Most of all though, of all the things I need, a jacket is at the bottom of the list. I spent $600 on a jacket like 4 years ago, and I have no real excuse to upgrade just because a new color came out!

How is this brown for you? The pictures really don't do this jacket justice. The texture and color of it is spectacular. It also has very heavy duty brass zippers and buttons versus the velcro. Gorgeous.
That is gorgeous. It's black, not brown, but it's gorgeous. Not available yet online, and I didn't see it in the store. I assume it's also $600?
I don't suppose Dainese will make jackets to customs specifications? I mean simple things, like an extra centimeter of arm length.

No, it is most definitely dark brown. The description on the site says it is black, but that is just one of many errors on the site. Like I said, the pictures don't do it justice.
As far as cutom work goes, we can do that in much of our range, but unfortunately, it is not an option on many of our "vintage" jackets, this one included.
A note on ordering on-line. If you order off the Dainese site, be aware that it is coming from Italy, meaning you will pay additional shipping, and it will be coming on a slow boat. If you see something you like, give me a call. More than likely we will have it in stock and can get it to you in a couple of days.
