Default Anyone else had trouble with busted Sidi boot zippers?

I have a pair of Sidi Vertigo Corsa boots, and the zipper tab busted off on one after about a year. No biggie I figured and replaced it with one of those split ring keyrings. Now the little loop the tab/keyring went into busted and I'm beginning to wonder if the zippers on these boots are generally flimsy, or if it is just my fat feet causing metal fatigue. ;D

Isn't the warrantee still valid?

I hope its not your feet, cause my fat ankles will be doing the same to mine soon.

I doubt the warranty is in effect at this point - I've had 'em 3 years. The soles are also starting to wear thin from having the balls of my feet on the ends of the footpegs. So it might be time for new boots. >

If you have to yank pretty hard on any zipper, it's going to break after regular use. My buddy just had the zipper come apart on his Dainese leathers, which we all know aren't cheap. He is just a bit errrr... grand for his leathers at this point and the metal just became uncrimped.

Your best defense against worn zippers is just to buy gear that fits well. Make sure that you have both the instep and calf adjusters pulled alllll the way out when you're putting on your boots. Make sure that your leathers are hiked up, too, since adding in all that material will make the fit even tighter.

Even if you don't think the warranty is still valid, it couldn't hurt to ask.

Zippers are probably the easiest things to get replaced. It may be easier/less hassle to take it to a local leather shop to have it done. There's a perfect one up here, Alaska Leather, they do motorcycle leather.

yep, my vertebra 2 - zipper pull on left boot broke off whilst on a road trip in the redwoods. I used a paper clip to fix it, which has held up better than the original pull. My boots get zipped and unzipped twice daily (minimum). I had about 10,000 miles on them when the zipper broke and have put another 20,000 since.

The way I see it, as long as they can be fixed without trouble - who cares? Sidis are incredible!!!

I've only had mine for ~half a season. So far so good.

I put 9 K on mine and the zippers were not an issue. I oiled my zippers when I cleaned my leathers once a month.
