Default Back support belts - anybody use them

Just curious - I've been considering an inexpensive lower back support belt, similar to what construction workers wear, for longer trips. I guess i am getting old and tempermental, since my back hurts like hell after 6 hours on the bike. Has anybody tried this or something similar, (MX kidney belt)?

If you get certain kinds of back protectors they act a bit like a back support too. 2 birds, 1 stone, etc.

For example, mine has two pretty wide elastic bands:

Micheal,
What brand is that? I have been thinking about a back protector lately.

Also, check out this one. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/back-...ack-a-line.htm. Looks like it might do the job if you already have back protection.

I used to wear a lower-back/'kidney belt' for touring - I bought the bike I was riding at the time in Germany, and a lot of German riders swear by them. It definitely helped with the back fatigue.

Sorry to thread-jack, but I never ride w/o a back protector even around town. See my comments here. I'd say go out an get one. I've got a full coverage one with the straps kinda like the one Michael posted for vigorous riding and in-jacket back protectors on my Vanson and Aerostich for tooling around town. Thread-jack over.

Dainese BAP 2 (8 plates). $130 at CycleGear (but I got it on special at Laguna last year)
