Default removing tank covers on m1100 evo

I tried removing the tank covers today as I need to replace the air filter and ecu..but could not un clip then from the white centre piece. I was concerned I would break theabs that l lock them together. Is there a special knack to doing this?

Make sure every fastener is unscrewed and just pull up on it.

I just checked the manual. You need to slide the towards the rear of the bike to release the tabs
