Unhappy Oil leaking from my Beautiful Monster 900

I've been having this slight oil leak from 2001 Monster 900 fuel injected. From speaking to fellow Duc riders this is common but mine drips 2-5 times after ever ride & I have oil all over my engine (mainly by the breather valves). I love my Monster and want to keep it in tip top shape but this is getting me worried. I dont want oil leaking while Im riding. VERY DANGEROUS since the engine is in front of the rear tire. I was thinking of taking to over to Nichols in Milpitas to take a look at it but when I recently had them change the chain & spockets I pointed out the oil spots & they didn't make it seem like a big deal but to keep an eye out for it. The mechanic also noted to make sure the chain tension is checked every 500 miles to make sure it doesnt hit the oil casing by the front spocket. PLEASE any information you can give me on your experience or expertise will GREATLY be appreciated.

Thanks,
Racing2Man

The breathing hose and connections do weep a bit after some heavy riding.

The first thing i would do is give the engine a good degreasing while warm (about 100-125 degrees)....very warm to the touch but not hot. Use a toothbruch to break up the stubborn stuff. Rinse it of and go ride again to dry up the water. I know it sucks but it looks good and you can pinpoint the leak much easier.

Remove the breather valve if it is indeed the culprit.....there is a green O-ring on the bottom that seals it to the crankcase. It may need replacing. If my math is correct...you have a 2001.......I also have two '01 monsters. I love both of mine too......equally so, of course.

After that is done and replaced, tighten her down and then make sure the oil is not overfilled. Make sure you check the oil while it is perfectly upright. You may already know this for forgive me if you do. My Cromo was overfilled almost 2.5 quarts. I found out after i had oil in my airbox. I promptly drained the 2.5 quarts and installed a TPO crankcase breather.

When that is done report back with the results.
