Anyone solving this issue? It just appeared on my 2005 S2R 800, 55kkm (35kmil), i made 25kkm of those
after i turn the key to off position, the right signal is 12 times blinking (2slow,10fast), and on the right display, temperature briefly changes during a bit...
Bike starts & is running ok, lights &signals as well (all same speed and intesity)..., battery seems ok
i bought the bike with led turn signals, but they worked two years without any issue
dash diaasembled, completely dry, as new, no signs of rust, no issues
(apart of small broken plastic tabs, they used to hold the speedo/tacho motors in place, fixed by ziptie and bit glue)...
i saw these posts from past, but found no solution or even description of the cause...
Hey man. So if it's not the actual dash, or indicators, check the wiring to and fro each.. I had an issue with my dash going out and losing gauges on a 796 - dealer replaced stator, regulator and battery, before I found the gremlin.. a piece of wiring harness was touching an 02 sensor and had burned through, giving me bare wire to bare metal.. Problem only happened after thoroughly warmed up.. So the electrical stuff can be tricky for sure. Sounds like you've evaluated the basics, so that's my .02, start tracing wiring.
I know this is a completely different bike, but does it have an immobilizer? Does that flash after turned off?
After re-reading, blinkers work fine while running, so probably not resistors..
So clarifying.. You turn it off and the actual blinker on the right starts flashing, or just the blinker on the dash?

i made some more tests and the situation is this:
When i put the key in and turn on, right blinkers (fr&rear) blink for fraction of a second, everything else is ok, bike runs and all el. stuff works as expected
When i turn the key off, the right blikers blink 2times slow and 10times fast, during that the ODO and TEMP stays on the display, then immo blinks as usual...
BUT, when i leave the blinker switch on to left or right, than it doesn't blink after key off... and it remembers the state and starts blinking (omn the corresct side) after next key on...
so i cleaned the blinker switch on the handlebars, (but it looked clean enough before) - no change
i checked cables under the seat and on the taillight, cleaned connectors, the same for front and rear signals, headlight and horn, no issue found
i guess have no O2sensor, since its pre-CAT version, but i will check oiltemp, clutch, stand and other sensors & cables as well to be sure...
ECU looks fine, as well as TPS, no sign of rust anywhere
i have both black and one red key + card
wiring looks original, also the wiring to blinkers looks fine and untouched
the blinkers seem to be changed by dealer from new (only the font are led, rear are different but still bulb)
the key i usually use works fine, i think immo is ok, as the bike starts fine and immo diode blinks whenever key is removed
it appeared after day after a wash, so i suspected moisture somewhere, but i found nothing so far...
display was dry and clean, sealed connectors looked fine and unsealed showed no sign of rust
blinker look dry inside, head/tail lights as well
where else could moisture cause this issue?
i will check ground as well, try to find spare signals for test
Meant to reply sooner too. Don't forget that electrical stuff is tricky obviously and it doesn't always mean follow those direct lines. Hence some heat issue on wiring to the dash could cause blinking rather than just heat to wires of blinkers, so make sure you get as much of a look at all wires and connections as possible. Obviously you want to know particularly which connections are more susceptible to water too since you said you had washed it recently before. Side note : after I wash or get caught in the rain, after drying (which I only do after wash) I always put a space heater in the garage next to the bike to help dry it as thoroughly as possible. Sounds ridiculous, but I've read enough of these type issues to learn to do something proactive. This pic was from earlier this week when I was caught in the rain.. Left it like this overnight.
The problem is with the electronic flasher relay that is built into one of the chips on the mainboard of the instrument panel.
Sorry to say it but this will cost a replacement panel or live with it as is
so i just found out that the low fuel level sensor either broke or is disconnected somewhere, as it doesnt work... the diode works, as it lights uop during the key on...
on of the guys wrote that his blinkers did the same, but that they were ok when the fuel light went on..., maybe its some short pon the low-fuel sensor in the tank...
Hello! I have the same problem in my S2R 800 (2006year) 12 blinks on right turn (2 slow, 10 rapid). And this is what i do (with no result)
1. Check all wirings and connectors (sealed and nonsealed)
2. Check turn switch (clean it in isopropanol and greased them) and when it's turn on (whatever left or right position) then motorcycle turn off normally
3. Check instrument motherboard (no rust, cleaned in isopropanol and resolder connector and check capacitors capacity)
4. Check ECU and ground wires near them (almost cleaned the place when radiator meets ecu)
5. Check oil temp sensor.
6. Check low fuel sensor (there is malfuncion because when i back from riding i go to fuel station and refuel ca. 12l and low fuel level indicator doesn't light, but i check his resistance and there is ca.200kOhm so there is no short circuit. I check in my friend s2r (1000ccm) and there is the same resistance. Try to turn on ignition on disconnected fuel pump and low level indicator but turn signal turn on again.
7. Check turn on when
-Oil temp is disconnected
-Fuel low indicator and fuel pump is disconnected
-ECU Fuse is taken out (there is normally turn off procedure with no blinks)
-Ground wire disconnected from engine
-Turn switch is disconnected
Can anyone tell me where is this electronic relay on instrument motherboard or maybe anyone got electric scheme of instruments ?
I'm electronics technican so i think i can repair this, but i must have scheme to see what where is connected. On workshop PDF is a bit too little information...
I phoned to my Ducati Service and they doesn't know what is going on but tell's me that can be propably gauges motherboard.
Not sure if this thread still relevant, but I thought I will update with my experience with same issue (Right turn signal flashes on shutdown). Maybe someone still has same issue and will be good path to start troubleshoot.
Thing is, that I ran into the same issue like all you, but I know what I did in a first place.
Long story short: I have Monster S2R 05 and I have decided to upgrade my ECU (software) map with Monster S2R 800 08. I have found that wiring and some sensors form 08 are bit different from my S2R 05. I have to change MAP sensor from Magneti Marelli to Bosch. As well I found that with S2R 800 map on my S2R 05 throws error P0500, what means no speed sensor in a short, because missing one wire from speed sensor to ECU body pin 24 and there started my issues.
(Explanation: Monster S2R 05 ECU software did not have that part what was monitoring speed sensor condition, that is why it was not wired from speed sensor to ECU, what came in latest models.)
Means it is connected from speed sensor pin 2 to Magneti Marelli cluster pin 17 and my new wire to ECU body pin 24 (T junction). Once I connected to ECU this wire, I started get this issue “Right turn signal flashes on shutdown”, because this Magneti Marelli cluster (dashboard), measuring all pins for resistance or voltage difference and when I connected to ECU cable from speed sensor, it did start “erroring” (Right turn signal flashes on shutdown).
I am guessing this entire 2 long and 10 short flashing has meaning. Like 1 long is = 1 and 1 short means 0 and we get binary code 1100 0000 0000 = 0xC00 = 3072 or 1 long means dozens and 1 short means units and we get 20 and so on. I need find Magneti Marelli flash meaning and see explanation, but because I do know what I did - connected wire from ECU to dashboard and dashboard microcontroller (Fujitsu MB89567HC) finds on shutdown on pin 17 voltage or resistance difference and complains.
I bet Ducati has no idea about this, because this is Magneti Marelli product and software inside. Means I need look for manual from FIAT or other automotive where Magneti Marelli is fitted.
I know, you have not done what I did, but in your case I think you have changed something as well. Cluster constantly monitors all pins and when it finds that something what it does not meet anymore to factory settings: voltage, resistance or some shortage or power leak – it flash indicator on power off to notify you about this. If you have not changed anything, it might be the wire is broken etc.
If you ask me if this lead to cluster failure, my answer: I do not know.
I hope it helps someone to find the root cause.
