Hey gang, I had the DP ECU installed with the titanium Termis and my low throttle response is really jumpy. I thought that would be cleared up with the DP ECU. I'm also getting sporadic pop on decel. Is there anything I should check or do I need to have the bike dyno'ed and something on the DP ECU adjusted?
- sporadic pop/backfire is normal
- Termi ECU map(ping) is ****, some fine-tuning can be done but don't expect miracles
- Could you explain/expand on the "low throttle response is really jumpy" ?
Do you have the silencers in ? Fun fact, bike runs better with 'em - unless you're all about the "BrrrRRaaAAappp".
My 796, with the full Termi system, with the baffles/silencers off would feel weird around the 4000+ RPM mark as a quick twist of the throttle usually resulted in some kind of delay/lag before the bike actually launching forward - problem was solved when i put the silencers back in.
Silencers are out , the titanium pipes are too quiet with them in. Good to know about the sporadic back fire. The throttle response is like this, you give it gas below 4k and it seems to hesitate. Once you give it gas above 4k its super responsive.

Yeah, put the silencers back in - unless of course you spent all that money just to make (more) noise (and i don't mean that in a condescending way) Nash
I mean, you/we spent all that money on the Termi system for a reason, right ? If you just wanted to make more noise you could have gone with 673546389 after-market options (just the cans basically).
I pretty much spent all that money to look good, sound good, and run good. I wanted to accomplish this without voiding my warranty. The silencers need to stay out.
Remove the DP ECU.
Re-install the original ECU.
Take the bike to a local performance shop, if you have one nearby and if they work with Ducati ECUs, to get a bespoke ECU tune.
If there is no shop near you, as a second best option, I would ship the ECU to Motowheels or one of the other re-mapping services.
I got a Rexxer reflash on my 696 from a local Ducati dealer after installing my Two Brothers Racing exhaust (with silencers) and a Termi air filter/DP airbox lid, and the low end feels improved over just the TBR exhaust or even stock. I only picked up 2 peak hp post-reflash (I never got a baseline dyno), but either I suddenly got better at riding around town after not riding around for a week or it's easier to keep the bike from stalling. Or I'm just mentally justifying the money I spent on the reflash
Hey guys. I got the same problem. Only realised it after trying my frens 795, the throttle is totally different. He has a carbon termis. So. What's the best solution? Changing back to the original stock ECU will help? My silencer was off too. I got the bike 6 months ago. That comes with a titanium termis and dp ECU...When the take off was slow, I thot that's just monster...Until I tried on my frens bike...That's monster...Pls advise...What shall I do
Hello all, I had been having some troubles for the past two years. (Multiple bikes, travel for work, not really that big a pain)
Back to the trouble. I was having issues getting it started on cold start. Would start after a few tries then would have to wait until operating temp to attempt to ride or i would get laggy throttle response. just felt like bad fuel. Anyhow, Shorai Battery and she starts first time every time. It still felt like crap until really warm and had laggy throttle. I replaced the Fuel filter and BAM! like a whole new bike. (My Duc guy says i probably just reset the ECU accidentally) However Would not start unless given throttle and held for a minutes to get a little warm. Replaced the ECU with DP and the Slip on Termi kit. Still Just wouldn't start without giving throttle. Tried to Reset TPS with the key off/on 3 times and idk didnt do jack, but today i did the key on/off 3 times and left it on for about 2 minutes before firing bit up and She fired right up. put 100 miles on stopped and started a few times seems ok. I will have a true cold start tomorrow to test. To all my new Ducati Monster owners do not let anyone tell you that, that's how Ducati's ride, you just need to ride it. If it feels like crap then it's probably crap. Check the normal stuff before jumping to ECU. If you plan on replacing the fuel filter get some hose clamps and a new O-Ring you might need it. (For clarification on resetting the TPS 2011 796 ABS- Turn key from off to on- wait until mileage shows up turn off and repeat two more times in secession, the third time just let the bike sit for 2 minutes or so before cranking, and see if that helps) i could just be full of crap but this is just my experience and now i love the Monster and will always try to keep one in the garage. Good luck
Just for the record... I put a set of Arrow slips on my 796, with the stock ECU. It instantly had better throttle response including the ability to lug it below 4K RPM without it gagging and trying to stall. I can take it down to almost 3300 RPM and roll the throttle right up out of the basement (in lower gears, not 5th or 6th... duh.) I couldn't do that with the stock exhaust. The throttle response was a little better still with the DB killers out, but was too loud. You can talk smack all you want, but I have neighbors and very often I leave early or come home very late. The solution was to modify the DBK's... I cut about 6-7" of the baffle off, leaving only 2" internally. I get better response and good sound than the full-on DBK's, without the ear wax melting boom of open cans.
As an aside, I'll try an ECU remap when I mod the airbox, after this experience I don't think a remap is necessary with only an exhaust.
