Display doesn't bother me. Rearsets a little but not a deal breaker. Otherwise it's an awesome bike (especially with termis!)

I almost forgot about the rear sets but not a deal breaker either.

I just installed my Termignoni and it made me love the bike even more!

It's a bad ass machine. There are a few little things like others have mentioned. The throttle sensor has gone bad on several bikes, but it's a easy fix. Mechanically sound bike. Super fun to ride! See my Avatar and you'll see I'm a sport bike guy at heart. I own a 16' ZX10 as well. I still love the Monster though. If you like hooligan bikes, then the 1200 is for you.

I have 8200 miles on mine, no issues. The bolt that holdsa plastic cover on had come loose on me twice...... pretty minor.

I have no issues with the screen, I see it to night mode and I use a tinted face shield... I can see it just fine.

Rearsets don't bother me either and I wear a size 10.5 US. You kind of get used to your feet being just a little bit further forward than a sport bike.

The bike is awesome and I have had no issues. Oh ya it exudes great heat on hot days..... only an issue when stopped at a light on very hot days. But not a deal breaker.

BTW, coincidentally I received some fresh microfiber towels from http://www.autogeek.net/ today. Sounds like you should be using some.
Yeah, unfortunately I actually ride it so it does get some beauty marks.

Get to the Desmo service and tell me if your microfiber saved your dash.

I ride mine, 8200 miles in 1 year. There are no scratches on my screen.

However, it should be noted that it is in the inherent nature of all motorcycles to get scratched. It may be day 1, or day 100 or it may be 100 years in the future.... but it's going to get scratched. Ride it more, worry about scratches less.

Sonic I put the anti glare plastic film over it. It really does not work but does protect the screen from scratches. The screen really looks fragile.

Meh, it's a motorcycle, not a museum piece. I ride it, things break, I fix them. It's the circle of life and whatnot. If any aspect of the dash (glare, scratches easy, no gear indicator....effing a, does the dash do anything right?) really bothered me, I would've already sold the thing.
