well if you get the red you're stuck with the red frame. and a lot of the optional tank skins don't look good with the red. with the white bike you get the black frame... everything goes with black, even red if you buy the skins later.
+1 for what raux said, I was torn between the red or the black but decided to go with the black because I did not care for the red frame. I do however really like the look of the red skins on a 696 with a black frame. Just my two cents.
There's an ebay seller that has red and white skins (made in China ) very cheap.
They probably aren't as nice as the stock ones, but if you're unsure about which way to go, and you're as cheap as I am, it may be a good way to go.
I normally hate red... but when it came to buying my Duc, it just had to be red. Remember the trellis is the bike's signature trait - might as well show it off with some vibrant red paint IMO.
