Wrenching Help?

I recently moved cross-country to SF, and even more recently picked up a '00 M750. I'm loving the city and want to love the bike, but I'm having some problems that are leaving it parked for the time being.

I posted a thread in the Tech subforum here, but am a little worried about potentially performing open-heat surgery on the carbs with next to no knowledge and without someone at least watching over.

If anyone in the area more familiar with Duc repair would be generous enough to lend a hand, or even an ear, it would be greatly appreciated. I saw a thread on a wrenching clinic a while back, but it doesn't look like much has happened since then.
