Valve adjustment tips

hey folks-- i'm wondering how long i can wait on the valve adjustment. now at 6200 miles on a monster dark ie 620 2002. also, i'm thinking about getting something bigger for freeway speeds. should i spend for the valve work or just sell on craigslist now? advice appreciated on that. also: desmoto in SF or ace motor in Concord for the service? any reviews/personal experience? i've gone in to desmoto for a few things and had no complaints but just heard about ace and want to hear from people who've gone there.
