This is exactly why we left. We realized that once a corporate (and I'm using the term in a general manner) buyout took place, the influx of nonsensical, useless ego-based trash would follow. That's not why the DML was created. Unfortunately, it was becoming something that was far too time consuming to regulate...the constant banning of belligerent/disrespectful users, etc, and that's not what any of us, mods or regular folk, wanted.

As far as a no compete, or proprietary information, etc... Seems like VS came along after the DML had established itself, therefore anything prior to is solely the property of the individuals, not VS. The owner of this board sold off the rights to an online forum, nothing else. And if I remember correctly, when I signed on, there was no non-compete clause, etc, that had to be agreed to in order to become a member.

If there is to be any non-compete or proprietary infringement suit, etc, I think it will be coming from the new board, not against. The new board was established, and named, prior to the "new" DML coming on line. So any similarities in name, or other, is at the doing of VS or interperited by the individual user.

No association/affiliation from the new board to this one is intended, implied, or even wanted.

If you don't want to be involved with the new board, then don't. That's entirely at the individual's discretion.

I find it interesting that in a period of less than 24 hours most of the important people have found their way to the new place. I plan to check in here for a few days, then that's it. I already burned my ducatimonster.org sticker that had been on the left hard bag of my ST2 for several years.

It doesn't matter who was around first. The prior owner of this board had rights to many things on this board. He gave those rights up in exchange for a significant amount of money (let's just say, roughly, that it was 1/3 of the way to being seven figures). One of the things he agreed to in exchange for that $$$ was to refrain from competing with the board that he was selling for a certain period of time. If he has any ownership interest in the new board, and the new board competes with this board, he is in breach of that agreement.
