I had always been under the impression they'd just send you a ticket...

Well according this guy who just got cited, it's a 1 point moving violation.

Also says they can cite you even with a fastrak account if you don't have the transponder with you...

I *thought* I read somewhere (news article or maybe off the Fastrak site) that they're only enforcing this through June 30. That's when the funding runs out. The whole thing just seems really weaksauce... : I realize that the Bridges are losing money because of people cheating the system, but I really don't understand how such a brief time of loose enforcement is going to rectify the situation. My transponder doesn't work half the time even if I do carry it.

I always have mine, and used to slow down & take it out of my pocket to set it off when going thru, but was on the phone with Fastrack about something else & asked them if I needed to do this and was told no, as they will cross reference the license plate from the pic.

The only time I stop, is when it's "commute" hours, to avoid the charge altogether.

I have been going thru for the last year+ without any issues.

I don't think they could actually see my L/plate at the able I have it. I should always keep my transponder with me if I am going across any bridge.

I think that's horsepucky. I've registered my plates with the FT site and *never* carry a transponder and they just bill me every time. Of course I have my tail intact and am not trying to hide my plate.

Last time i went through the toll booth on the Tambucks/Dianese ride, I pulled my transponder out and I dont think the sign said Valid Fastrak or anything. So what if it doesn't go off? are they going to start trying to fine now, claiming you didn't carry it?

From what I understand if they pull you over and you don't have it with you then you get the ticket...

They also say that it's supposed to be visible, so like what on "the dash" kind of BS to me...

I think I'm going to throw mine in under my seat and take my chances.

My fiancee keeps telling me about this story of a person who uses the fast track lane but is not signed up with a transponder.

My understanding was that there was no law to get those folks to pay... I guess there is now ;D

I know with parking tickets they take the money out of your tax return in California now if you don't pay... Don't ask me how I know this >

They've yet to bill me on the 748... but the plate is "less then visible"
