Default Maintenance for Duc Monster (2000 750)

Is there a favorite book on working on your own motorcycle? My husband is a truck/car mechanic and could use some guidance. I myself would also like to do more than just oil and chain.

Start with the Clymer manual for your model & year. Then you can supplement it with these:
Desmotimes maintenance guides
Desmotimes tech boards
DML Tech Board

Haynes manuals are excellent.

And bookmark this link:
http://www.ducati.com/bikes/tech

It gives all of the quick reference data for torque specs, valve clearances, etc, per model. [thumbsup]

Thanks for all the advice! I used the online vids to change the oil and service the chain. I ordered the Haynes book and bookmarked the other stuff (stuff is such a great word). I have a Pitbull rear stand. Should I invest in a front stand??

It definitely helps, especially for forking on brakes & oil changes. I'd invest in the pin-style stand that plugs in to the bottom of your lower triple clamp. That lets you turn the bars while the bike is elevated.

Here is a upper and a lower triple clamp assembly from speedy moto. But the shiny thing that holds the forks Just below the gauges is the top triple clamp. It's that thing you've been looking at for a while.
