Our own little Tigre is going to take it up a notch from the AFM series to race
AMA on
May 17th at Infineon Raceway with such names as Matt Mladin, Ben Spies, and my personal heartthrob, :-* Neil Hodgson :-* Here's your chance to not only say, "I knew him when..." but also to say, "I was part of the team..."
You might not be aware, but there's a lot that goes into racing. It takes a village... (oh wait, that one's for kids) It takes a CREW to make a racer. A lion's share (yes, I meant that...) of the work goes into his effort leading up to Saturday's main event starting Wednesday. These jobs aren't extremely physical or all that time intensive, but they will require you to take direction and execute it well and fairly quickly. Most of us who work for a living probably have this one down... Keep in mind that Tigre needs to qualify prior to Saturday in order to race. If you don't make it out during the week, there' a verrrrrry slim chance you might miss seeing the great one in action--so jump on this opportunity NOW. ;D
Tigre needs help with the following jobs in the
HOT PIT:
- Umbrella tiger (Saturday only)
- Tire temperature/pressure checker/suspension adjust/Fuel person (wanted for everything including the start of the race)
- Sign worker (with coordination with someone checking live timing and scoring) (needed for practice and qualifying... not needed for race)
People
outside the hot pits can still help:
- Camera worker in T2 and T7 on Wednesday/Thursday (especially)/Friday (morning practice... need the help mostly before qualifying) to help me figure out how to go faster in those turns (where I'm giving up the most on the track)
- People to help wrench for tire changes/clutch changes/suspension notes
- Person to deal with taking rims to the Dunlop put for tire changes
- Someone to "detail" the bike and helmet
- Someone communicating live timing and scoring to the person working the pitboard
...But 'Belle all I know how to do is sit on my butt n pick my nose. Yes,
there's a role for you here:
- Someone to keep an eye on shizznit in the pit so stoopid fookerz don't steal his shizznit while he's out racing. (This means that you'd probably miss out on Tigre actually racing, so perhaps this is best left to the disinterested girlfriend, parents who don't like the noise and want to read a book in the sun, et. al.)

Feel free to post up questions here or contact me via PM. If you would like to help with any of the above duties, let me know the day(s) you'd like to help in addition to your preferred job. I'll do my best to "spread out the fun." Keep in mind that Tigre might need to tell Larry-the-dude-who's-only-been-riding-his-scooter-for-4-months-and-can't-change-his-oil that he's probably not cut out to be chief mechanic in the hot pit. Don't take it personally. Also, room in the hot pits is limited by the AMA for various reasons. And lastly, I'm happy to help with any logistical stuff concerning paperwork, where or how to get tickets, car- or moto-pooling up to the races, camping, motels, sleeping on my living room floor the night before, etc.
